Garden centers and plant nurseries sell annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees, vegetables and houseplants, along with soil, mulch, fertilizer, pots and tools. Independent nurseries often grow part of their own stock and carry varieties that do well in the local climate, while big-box garden departments compete on price for common plants. Wholesale nurseries and growers sell to landscapers and sometimes to the public at volume prices; tree nurseries sell balled-and-burlapped and container trees and can deliver and plant large specimens. Specialty growers focus on bonsai, cactus and succulents, orchids or native plants, and hydroponics stores sell lights, nutrients and systems for growing indoors.

San Diego is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around San Diego is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Great selection of native plants. You can also search the Moosa Creek inventory online and have the plants delivered here.

Great plant selection, but ABSOLUTELY DO NOT let the staff handle or load your delicate plants. βThis nursery genuinely has an incredible selection of beautiful, rare specimens. After visiting 5 to 6 different nurseries, I was thrilled to finally find the large, rare cactus I had been searching for. βHowever, the staff's handling was extremely careless. I was worried about the transportation and raised my concerns with multiple staff members beforehand, as they seemed inattentive. Sure enough, within 3 seconds of loading, they snapped the neck of the cactus. βThey offered a discount, but a damaged specimen like that loses its entire value. While they ultimately processed a full refund, it does not make up for the ruined weekend, wasted time, and gas spent tracking down this plant. βIf you are buying a valuable or delicate plant here, transport and load it yourself. Never trust their staff to handle it.

Finally have a house with a backyard and I was so excited to get some things growing! Wanting to avoid the big box stores, I came to City Farmers for some hanging baskets of flowers and some pots and herbs. Everyone was so helpful! At first I didnβt see any hanging flower baskets but when I asked they said I could pick out any flowers and they would plant them in a hanging basket for me and only charged $2 per basket! The pottery selection was also amazing. I have limited mobility in one arm and they brought everything to my car and loaded it up. And most importantly my new plant babies are thriving!

I love this nursary. I got to see not just all of their plants, but they have animals too! They also have a small bar and grill, the food smells amazing. We did get to try their cold brew and apple juice. Tastes very good at Nates. People are very nice here too. The nursary feels like a jungle adventure. This will be my new favorite nursary. β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ
